Different lives.

Start with what you want your insurance to do. We’ll talk through the details together.

Final expense

Help your loved ones handle funeral costs, final bills, and other expenses you don’t want them to face alone.

  • Often a smaller whole life policy
  • A benefit paid to your beneficiary
  • Options based on health and budget
Explore final expense →
02 /

Whole life

Permanent coverage designed for long-term protection, with a cash value component.

  • Designed to last a lifetime
  • Level-premium options
  • Cash value grows under policy terms
Talk about whole life →
03 /

Term life

Protection for a set period, often used to help replace income or cover a mortgage while your family needs it most.

  • Coverage for a defined term
  • Often a lower initial cost
  • Generally no cash value

Availability, premiums, benefits, and policy requirements vary by insurer, product, state, age, and underwriting. Policy terms and premium requirements apply.

A closer look can make a difference

Turned down before?
Let’s look again.

A past decline or a two-year waiting period doesn’t tell the whole story. Different insurers evaluate health histories differently. I’ll help you explore whether day-one coverage may be an option for you.

Review my options
01Review your health history and coverage goals.
02Compare insurer guidelines and policy features.
03Understand exactly when the full benefit begins.

Day-one coverage is not guaranteed. Some policies have graded or limited benefits during an initial waiting period. Eligibility and the effective date depend on the insurer and policy.

Your diagnosis is only part of the story

Health conditions?
There may be another option.

A decline from one insurer doesn’t mean every insurer will say no. I compare carrier guidelines with your individual history to look for coverage that fits, including potential day-one benefits. These are some of the situations we can discuss.

Diabetes

Controlled diabetes, including some insulin-treated cases, may qualify. Complications and your overall health matter.

Heart attack or heart disease

Some people receiving ongoing care may have options. We’ll review treatment and the rest of your health history.

Cancer in remission

Some past cancers may qualify. Cancer type, treatment completion, recurrence, and spread affect the options.

Dialysis or kidney failure

Specialized options may exist for some people receiving treatment. Dialysis does not automatically mean every policy has a waiting period.

COPD or other heart conditions

Some treated cases of COPD, congestive heart failure, or cardiomyopathy may have day-one options.

Amputation

An amputation may not rule out day-one coverage. We’ll also consider the underlying condition and your care needs.

What does day-one coverage mean? The full death benefit for covered natural causes begins on the policy’s effective date, subject to its terms and exclusions. This is different from a policy that pays a full benefit only for accidental death during an initial waiting period.

These are possibilities, not approval promises. Eligibility depends on the insurer, product, state, age, medications, treatment, other conditions, and application review. A policy with a waiting period may be the available option. Coverage does not begin just because you request a quote.

Please discuss medical details privately during your appointment, rather than posting them in a public message.

I’ll be your agent for life, helping you every step of the way.

A little clarity

Questions are
always welcome.

You don’t need to know all the insurance terms before we talk. That’s what I’m here for.

Can I get coverage with health conditions?

Possibly. Each insurer has its own underwriting guidelines. We can review your health history and look for options that may fit. No approval or coverage level is guaranteed.

Does every policy have a two-year waiting period?

No. Some policies provide a full death benefit from their effective date, subject to policy terms and exclusions. Others have limited or graded benefits for an initial period. We’ll review the policy’s benefit schedule so you understand the difference.

What if I already have life insurance?

We can review what you have, including the coverage amount, premiums, duration, and benefit limitations. Keep your current policy in place while you evaluate alternatives. A replacement can introduce new costs, waiting periods, and contestability provisions.

How much life insurance do I need?

It depends on what you want to protect: final expenses, income, debts, a mortgage, or money for loved ones. We’ll talk about your goals and an amount that fits your budget.

What should I have ready for our call?

A list of medications and what you take them for can be helpful, along with any existing policy information you want reviewed. It’s okay if you don’t have everything, we can start with your questions.

Can I get life insurance after being declined?

Possibly. Insurers use different guidelines, so a previous decline does not settle every future application. I can review the reason for the decline and compare other options without promising an approval.

Can I get life insurance with diabetes?

Yes, some people with diabetes qualify, including some who use insulin. Control, complications, medications, and other health conditions affect which products may be available.

Can I get life insurance after a heart attack?

Potentially. Some insurers consider applicants with a treated heart-attack history. Timing, ongoing care, and other diagnoses matter, so we need to review the details.

Can I qualify after cancer is in remission?

Some people can qualify. The type of cancer, completed treatment, any recurrence or spread, and other health history determine the options. Remission alone does not guarantee day-one coverage.

Can I get life insurance while receiving dialysis?

Potentially. Some specialized whole life options may consider applicants receiving dialysis. Eligibility must be verified, and the available policy may have immediate or limited initial benefits.

Is final expense insurance different from whole life?

Final expense describes the purpose of coverage, often funeral costs and final bills. Many final expense policies are whole life policies with smaller coverage amounts. Check the actual policy type and benefit schedule.

What does $10,000 or $20,000 of final expense coverage cost?

There is no single price. Premiums depend on the insurer, product, age, health, state, and benefit schedule. I can compare exact quotes for both amounts and explain whether a waiting period applies.

Can I lower my payment without losing all my coverage?

Sometimes. Your insurer may allow a lower benefit or another policy option. I can help you ask what is available and explain the tradeoffs before you cancel or replace anything.

How can I check an independent broker’s credentials?

Verify the producer’s license with your state insurance department, read genuine reviews, and ask who issues the policy. My name is Candice Umbdenstock and my National Producer Number is 19436142.

Where do you help families?

Protect Your Family is based in Ooltewah in the Chattanooga area of Tennessee. I help clients by phone in Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama, where licensed and where the selected product is available.

Is there a charge for the consultation?

No. The initial conversation and quote review are free, and there’s no obligation to purchase a policy.
